The WebQuest
This WebQuest is designed to give students a better understanding and knowledge of some of the key themes present within The Giver. Through each task they will be given an oppotunity to make personal connections with the material as well as develop their higher level thinking skills.
Students will also gain a better understanding and practical use of the 6 Traits of Writing through the 3rd task in this WebQuest.

The Process
This WebQuest will be introduced and fully explained to the students before they begin readingThe Giver by Lois Lowry. It will be explained to the students that each process in this WebQuest will used throughout the duration of reading The Giver.
Students will be asked to complete each step in the WebQuest as they read certain chapters of the book. The final step in the WebQuest will take place upon completion of the book so that students will be able to write a complete and concise alternate conclusion.
This WebQuest will take place after a complete lesson in the Six Traits of writing and in conjunction with the development and practice with the use of these 6 traits.
